Dtube Snap 3 Co-op

in #dtubesnap6 years ago (edited)

Once a month, I order from a big co-op. The warehouse is based in Oregon and they deliver almost everywhere in the US.
Local groups get together and form a drop. When the truck comes, everyone helps to unload and count the item. Then, we take our stuff and off we go :)

Just in case, here is the YouTube version

The Dtube Snap initiative was started by @nathanmars who has all kinds of initiatives to help people to succeed on Dtube. He is very dedicated to Dtube and if you follow him, you will get all kinds of ideas and tips.

If you are in the US and are interested in the co-op - here is a link https://www.azurestandard.com/

I think if you mention my name if you sign up, I get something... Just saying

Sounds like and interesting initiative. I've never taken part in a coop like that. I guess such bulk orders are way less expensive for everyone ordering?

Yes. For the most part, it is less expensive. And for many, it is convenient to get all the staples once a month. The beauty about this particular co-op is that you can order just one item as well.
In San Diego, we have plenty of healthfood stores - but in some areas, it is almost impossible to get many of the items.

I should have included a link. Will update. Here is a link to their website

Cool. I'll check it out. Here in Quebec we have a few health foods stores. There is an Avril store just 10 minutes away, a Rachel-Béry a bit furhter down, and a Tao a good distance from where I live, but we go there for my face cream. We shop a lot at Avril and they have healthy food, essential oils, all sorts of things. It's really practical because we do half our groceries there.

Nice!! Those are all names I am not familiar with but it sounds like you are covered. It is hard for people who live out in the middle of nowhere.

I can understand that. Here in a major city suburb, it's rural and there are a lot of places we can go for various things. I can't imagine living far away from a grocery store or something. I like it walking distance.

I didn't actually read this post. this is an account testing stuff out by upvoting and commenting .Ignore me

Interesting to see that it happens all over the place. My mother is very strict about eating organic health and whole foods and she gets about half of her shopping from a co-op scheme.

Nice dtubesnap post Marianne. Kinda like a snapshot of an aspect of your life. Thanks for sharing :-)

Thank you! I ran a co-op many years ago and it was so much harder. This one, you order online, pay the company and just pick up your stuff, already sorted and packed. So much better.

And having healthy food is of utmost importance...

Oh, we used to do a food co-op thing for bulk foods before we left for the boat. I totally forgot about it. There are several options for that kind of thing around here, but most of the time it's like 6am for the pick up and I'm not that ambitious! :)

ha - my neither... but you can check into Azure and see if they have a drop in your neighborhood. Their drop time is according to the route of the truck...

Interesting. I've heard about such things and I know there's a co-op around here somewhere. Maybe I'll talk to my roommate and we'll look into it for ourselves :)

If you go with an Azure Drop in your area - assuming they go where you live - the minimum order is only $ 50. And they carry everything from all kinds of food to beauty items, animal feed and, and, and...
