Everything is a Toy
These milk crates are part of the playground offerings at my little dude's preschool. The kids have so much fun with them.
Obviously, as you can see in this picture, they make a fantastic train. A minute before that, they were a boat sailing the big wide ocean.
Towers seem to be the first thing the kids like to build with them. Or just carry them around. One in each hand is really hard work!!!
But it feels good to get them as far away from the playground as possible.
Did I mention that you can climb up on them?
That might even be one of the best features of this extremely versatile toy!!

So do I!! Kids can turn everything into a toy and I think we really hinder their learning and creativity by given them all kinds of toys which have one specific function...
Absolutely!
It's wonderful to see children playing with daily life objects instead of the bought toys. It brings all the fun of making everything we want from a simple plastic box as the world is limitless and its turns them resourceful and able to solve problems in the future! My daughter is 17 months, not that resourceful yet! But it's fun to see her tightening screws with a pencil! :)

My son's other favorites at that age were my laundry baskets or cardboard boxes.
hahaha - I have lots of pictures of kids in boxes and laundry baskets :)
I even have a few where they were his helmet or turtle shell. :-)

I do not have children yet, but I have a nephew and almost always prefers the boxes of the toys that the hahaha toys themselves ... they are very creative ... the boxes are transformed into any object of their imagination
For sure!! I have a podcast where I am interviewing an educator who is teaching workshops around making toys from found items :)
