The Mucubají Lagoon
It is located in the Sierra Nevada Park, in the state of Merida, Venezuela. It is one of the largest lagoons in the region. It is believed that the name of the lagoon is due to the name of the indigenous inhabitants of the region. Mucubají means in this language "large water site". The lagoon is of glacial origin and is about ten thousand years old.
