What comes with ease goes with ease
This Arabian proverb has always intrigued me! Why is this so true? Why is it that if something comes easy that people struggle to look after it?
We have all read stories about squandered inheritances, people that got easy money and then blew it into the wind.
We have also heard about people winning the lotto and then within a year or two they have nothing left. Why is this? Is it because no effort was put into obtaining it?
Well I think we only hear the stories from the one side of the coin, the stories that are juicy to tell.
I take my brother for instance. He inherited a VW fastback from my grandfather and this is his most prized possession. He even improved it to be better that its original splendor.
I thus think this proverb is not fully true!!

Yes, Easy come, Easy go is the saying I learned and in a lot of cases it is true.
I think we appreciate the things that take work to accomplish.
It seems to put more value on these things, at least from our own perspective.

You maybe right indeed. Certain is that most stories are left untold. Thy example about the VW, is maybe not completely comparable, since this is an item, not just numbers on a computer screen (money). I think this saying may be applicable to a some group of people, people who have difficulties to rationalise, since with rational one may not spend all the money now, but use it some way it will serve some future purpose, while those who do not rationalise may spend as they please and feel without thinking to much what it means when the money is gone.
