Add Nokia CEO Rajeev Suri to the UBI List

Speaking at the 2018 Mobile World Congress, Suri issued 5 predictions for 2018 and going forward.

One of them is that the rise in automation will result in still greater loss of traditional middle class jobs. This will only increase the income inequality we are already witnessing. In his view, politicians are going to be faced with a social backlash that must be dealt with.

His prediction is that they are going to need to "take on some radical long-term solutions like a universal income".

This is a growing trend of support for Universal Basic Income that we are seeing. The leaders of technology companies come from viewpoint that this is simply something society is going to have to do. They do not appear to believe it is a subject for debate. Their fundamental view is that automation will eliminate jobs and on a large scale.

Many of the members of our community come from this same perspective. The idea of technological unemployment becomes clearer each day. Hospitality workers in Las Vegas are moving closer to a strike this week in an effort to fend off the tide of automation that is expected to replace many of their jobs.

Our goal is to have manna be of assistance to those who are in need. This is going to be a problem affecting all parts of the world. It is fairly evident that the third world nations suffered generational poverty. What is eye-opening is that first and second world nations are seeing an expanding part of their populations falling into this same category. Many parts of the United States, from the inner cities to the rural communities are confronted with the fact there are not job prospects in those areas. This is a reality that few see changing.
