Peering out of the forest.
When you are hiking through the forest its not easy to get an idea of what it looks like from the outside.
But as we hiked up the sides of the mountain these would be the odd occasion that the trees would part just a little and the mist and the light rain would lift just a little.
It's just amazing to be able to get a view of the forest from a different perspective.
The variety of colours and shapes is astounding. At ground level you get used to the differences in the trunks but at this angle you get to see another side of the trees that you cant fathom at ground level.
I hope you brought a gun. That place looks tropic enough to hide all kinds of predators. Hurr...
I like walking around the forest in the hills. I think you like it too. I liked your photos.

I grew up in the foothills of the Shawangunk Mountains (New York State, USA). Spent a lot of time with my brothers walking (we didn't call it hiking) in the forest. My brothers, who were older, didn't need a compass. They just knew where they were going.
We moved to NYC very suddenly, when I was eleven. I miss the forest. I think, even if I go back today, I won't see it with the same innocence I had then. I'll probably be aware of danger, feel the damp, watch out for insects and snakes. But that childhood experience will always be a part of me. Your pictures bring it all back.
