26th March Independence Day of Bangladesh.
The people of Bangladesh observe march 26 as the independence day. For the people of Bangladesh, march is a month of unforgettable memories of pride as well as of sorrow and grief. It is the month of proud memories, because it was in this month in 1971, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared the independence of Bangladesh . Now the 26th march is our independence day. We annually celebrate this day with pride and joy. But march is also a month of sad memories for us. On the 25th march 1971, in the darkness of night, the Pakistani army swooped down upon our people and killed many unarmed men, women and children in Dhaka. However, the bangalees soon rose in heroic revolt and the war of liberation began. The war ended on December 16 and we became free.
