God's zeal
The Lord held in high regard Phinehas, son of Eleazar and grandson of the high priest Aaron. He was a man whom God noted for his zeal and gave him the promise of the high priesthood through his passion.

“Therefore tell them: behold, I establish my peace pact with him; and he and his descendants will have after him the covenant of the perpetual priesthood, because he was zealous for his God and made atonement for the children of Israel ”(Numbers 25:12, 13)
Just as this man acted to deserve such a favor by taking a spear and killing an Israelite who had blatantly committed adultery with a pagan, in full view of all.
Fenees's swift action stopped a plague that claimed the lives of 24,000 sinful Israelites, and garnered the Lord's praise for his great devotional zeal.
We as believers must act out of jealousy and passion for everything related to God.
Every believer should feel that same zeal with passion, urgency and a great fervor for everything related to God.
