NASA forecasts snowfall at Olympics
Researchers are currently operating NASA radar instruments in the snowy mountains around Pyeongchang to provide the 2018 Olympic Winter Games' officials with accurate forecasts. NASA is partnering with 20 agencies from about a dozen different countries to do so, and will also be collecting data that can help its Earth-observing satellites improve their prediction models, because snow in rugged regions is tricky to forecast from above.
