Baby shower favors
A baby shower is such a good and lovely way to celebrate the coming of a new child into a family! It is basically a party where the mother (hopefully!) and the child are showered with gifts by close friends and relatives. The tradition is that only women are invited to baby showers and, during such an occasion, those of them who are already mothers give advice to the soon to become mom. There is always good food and deserts at a baby shower, and lots of fun. The women play different games, like pregnancy-themed ones, that help them to bond with the mother, establishing the „village” that is going to be involved in raising that child.
Of course, the person who hosts the baby shower usually makes sure to put on the cutest decorations and tries to match the napkins and everything else with the theme color (green/blue for example, if it's a boy, or pink etc., if it's a girl).
Guests attending the baby shower bring small gifts for the expectant mother and child. These gifts are useful ones, needed for the first months of the baby's life.
I am a lucky person. I recently became a mother and I had two baby showers organized for my baby. The first one was hosted by a dear friend and mentor, and the guests were more like elderly women, but not only, whose advice and opinion matters to me. Because I knew about this one, I had the chance to make some small hand-made favors for the guests. I got the idea from Internet and I had my husband's help o make them. They were small boxes, blue and green ones (yeas, we have a boy!), in which we put a mix of candies. The guests were thrilled.
The second one was a kind of surprise, so, we didn't have time to prepare something for the guests, unfortunately. But I enjoyed having family and friends around all the same.
What about you? Did you have a baby shower hosted for you and your baby? Was it fun?
