Read my new book for young people with me || Part 1: How to maintain focus in the world of technology
Today while I was in search of what to read to pass the, I decided to enter a website jw.org and there I found interesting information that will help young ones to succeed.
I found a book entitled "Questions young people ask,answers that work. This book contains many questions that we as young ones may ask at times and we eagerly search for the answers. I found interesting questions such as the following:
and many more interesting ones. If you can check the book you will find many of the questions that you personally might be interested in.
I resolved to complete the reading of those questions I've found. But I could only complete one today because of my limited the but to tell you, I learnt a lot from that particular one I read. The one I read is about maintaining focus. How can I maintain focus is the question asked.
Maintaining focus
There is a great need for young ones to maintain balance and focus.
With the advent of technology, maintaining focus has become harder for young ones. The more we use the internet, the more our brain gets distracted and we have no sustained attention.
The phone has proved to be a distraction for many young ones including me. Most times I lose focus in reading books especially if there are long paragraphs. I have also lost patience to complete some serious things and they seem boring to me sometimes.
From what I read from that book, I know I'm not alone with this, many young ones also have the same experience. The cellphone has been the greatest distraction for us. But the books helped me to see that we can all overcome this challenge. The tips it provides are very helpful and practical.
The book mentioned three settings where technology can interfere with concentration. And they are:
- When conversing
- When in class
- When studying
You will find it difficult to focus if you let technology control or distract you_Say the book
How to improve focus in those three areas mentioned above
When having a conversation
When having a conversation we need to show consideration for the person we are speaking to, we do that by listening attentively to what the person says.
If possible, maintain eye contact with the person and resist the urge to check your cellphone.
Doing this will show that we respect the person we are speaking with.
The book advices that we should keep our phones out of sight when having a conversation, that way it will be easier to listen to the other person.
When in class
We need to pay attention to how we listen. Listening here involves listening to the lecture and to the teachers.
The advice found in the book says, if we are allowed to use the internet in school, we shouldn't use it for the wrong reasons such as checking messages, playing games or chatting online when the lectures are going on
We should form the habit of taking notes offline in class as that will help us to be less distracted in class because of using the phone or computer. And taking notes helps us to remember the lessons learnt in class.
When studying
Focusing on our studies is very beneficial to us and we help us achieve many goals on the future.
It is advice that we put our phone in settings that will not disturb us when studying, we might want o put them in airplane mode or disable some apps that will disturb us for the period we want to study.
Also our study environment should be kept clean and uncluttered as that will contribute to our maintaining focus.
With the above mentioned tips, I hope to improve on my focus and be able to do the necessary things at the right time.

Hello! Sometimes it also happens to me that I get distracted very easily by the use of the cell phone or that I do not pay attention to certain activities because of it.

very good sis.....but nowadays most young people have started to leave reading books directly. As technology develops, there are various articles that can be accessed via the internet. But should read the book directly will cause us to know about the original source we study. very interesting post sis.
