Smoking in the rain at the edge of the world

Here, in the largest temperate rainforest on Earth, it rains often. Consequently, rainbows are not uncommon. Here's a pic of me smoking in the rain:

Zooming out a bit, you can see that I'm standing on a sculpture of some manner of sea mammal being a dork:

In truth, running around being a dork is pretty much all there is to do here most days. Since I have an hour or less each day of non-television-background-noise time at my mom's place where I'm staying, and since there are zero decent coffee shops on this island, and since it's too cold and rainy to just plunk down outside somewhere to do my thing, I can't actually think, or relax, or do anything else I'd normally do most of the time.

So I choke down horrid coffee at dive bars for photo opportunities:

And take too many pictures of the awesome mossy tree in the front yard:

And listen to stuff like this too loud with headphones, wondering why television-as-background-noise makes sense to anyone anywhere.
