Feel the warmth of home at Bacolod Chicken Inasal
The name of the restaurant says "chicken" so it is not surprising if people will immediately have the impression that it serves chicken dishes only. However, that is not the case.
The restaurant takes pride in offering a wide range of home-cooked style Filipino dishes with their tag line: Feel the warmth of home.
They have different vegetable dishes to choose from and most of these are common household dishes that would really make diners feel at home.
The vegetable dishes are typically with meat or fish but what caught my attention on their menu is the option to have it without meat. That is a very good option for vegans or even for some like me who wants to have a break with meat once in a while. I ordered a meatless chopsuey for my lunch earlier today.
The staff are friendly and also accommodating. When I placed my order earlier, the waiter was quick enough to attend to me and was courteous to set my expectation of the waiting time. He mentioned about 15 minutes but it was faster than that.
When my order was served, the size was big enough for two persons if it is consumed as viand.
I did not know that the serving size was big so I also ordered for a cup of rice. If you are the type who does it purely with vegetables, just the chopsuey can be one good serving for a full meal.
I loved how the vegetables were cooked tenderly, except for the beans. I guess the beans should have been done before the other ingredients were added in. Either way, the young corn and mushrooms carried it all. These are rare ingredients as they are also rare in the market. I wish there were more on my order, though.
It will not be a bore to keep going back to this restaurant as they have many options to choose from. Aside from the chopsuey, the other vegetable options can be meatless at the diner's instruction.
Aside from different dishes, you will also be entertained by some decorations on the wall that depict the culture of Bacolod City where the restaurant was named.
This mask on the wall is just one of those that represents the famous Mascara Festival.

For me whose been into fried foods most of the time from fastfood restaurants, I would say that having pure veggies like this is indeed healthy. Less oil and fats... 😊
