All you need is love and a cup of milktea
I have seen this new tea house few months ago and have been wanting to give it a try. I say it is new because it was not there in years that I have been passing by the area. Earlier today, I gave myself a treat and got in after having my groceris and while waiting for the rain to subside.
Through the glass doors and walls, I had the impression that the interior is a fine dining experience. I was right. The furnitures were properly arranged, the staff were in clean and neat uniforms. And I like their promo line:
All you need is love and a cup of milktea!
What's more? I was greeted by a woman occupying one of the high chairs to the left. She was in front of a laptop and she greeted everyone who comes in. That gave me the idea that she's the owner. How nice is it for a business owner to be watching out for her customers!
I occupied the right-most table from the door and waited for a while. No staff started to come forward so I looked around and spotted the "self-service" note in front of the counter. I stood up to there and asked for a menu. The cashier gave me this book.
As I was eyeing for milk tea, I looked straight for the page where the beverages are. I spotted Creme Brulee, ordered a small size cup with an instruction of "no sugar." Unfortunately, the cashier was saying that their Creme Brulee powder is already a mix with sugar.
"Ah, so it is not like the others that I can dictate the sugar level or my order?" I asked.
"Yes, ma'am. It is not like that."
I know those pre-mixed beverages are usually very sweet so I asked what's my alternative. She mentioned a few from the menu and I picked Dutch Dreams.
The cashier asked for my name, punched some keys and handed me my receipt.
I thought they will call out for my name when my order is ready but I wanted to be sure so I still asked.
"How is it? You will call out for me to pick up my tea when it is ready?"
"No, ma'am. We will bring it to your table."
"Oh, so it is not fully self-service after all," I thought. "But why did you have to get my name?" I wanted to asked but I just nodded, thanked her and went back to my table.
While waiting for my order, I was admiring how cozy the place is. I got curious and searched for Bon Appetea on the web. It is a local Filipino franchise which started in Ortigas Center in Pasig City.
When my order was served, I did not realize that it was so cold for the rainy season. I could have asked the cashier to lessen the ice or no ice at all. Anyway, here it is.
I was hesitant about the very cold drink but I apparently enjoyed it after all. Look, I finished it! Why? How was a totally no-sugar drink tasted? It was just as perfect as I expected it to be. I can taste the raw tea and the little strong chocolate blend. That is enjoying the taste of the tea instead of just sugar! There was even an instance when I still tried to sip through the straw and I can no longer get any. Ooppsss...
It was a very good timing when I finished my tea as the rain has subsided. Time to go home with my groceries.

Try to imagine the acrid tea and bitter dark chocolate mixed into one. That's how it tasted. I got the original taste of tea instead of just sugar which is mostly the case... 😊
