AREN'T WE BETTER THAN THIS...
Trusting in a hierarchy
that only serves its own
embracing the fallacy
we're better off alone
ignoring cold hard truth
to go shopping at the mall
blinded by the rhetoric
that separates us all
compassion is a weakness
empathy a chore --
dignity and honor
replaced by endless war
ignorant and selfish
with the foresight of a stone
accepting all our failures
with each injustice we condone
wiping out entire species
polluting the clean air --
poisoning our children
and no one seems to care
deceiving all we know
so quick to pass the buck
weaponized religion
is now armed with a truck
believing in a God
by raping sacred land
gouging on its resources
every last damn strand
dining on indulgence
while so many go without
quietly embarrassed --
ruled by fear and doubt
selfishness and greed
are defining who we are
exceeding all thats good
laughing from afar
praising thoughtless leaders
denying our true bliss
C'MON --
aren't we better than this...
