The Bible, Exactly For What It SayssteemCreated with Sketch.

John 21:23 (KJV)
Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?

It is worthy of consideration that this passage teaches us a principle concerning the application of the Bible. The Bible should be understood for what it says and not what we might infer from what it says. Many a sermon has been preached and much bad teaching has been presented based upon: what the reader assumed from a passage, how he interpreted it, and not based upon what the Bible strictly says.

John corrected the suppositions of the people of his time by simply repeating what Jesus said.

This sort of Bible application would do away with a whole bunch of modern Bible doctrines. Principles that men have “extracted” from the Bible by boiling it down to what they believe is the intent of the Bible would wash away if they were forced to remain in Scripture in context.

On the other hand, some things, like what we read in Romans 1, would become so much more powerful, convicting and life-altering, if we took them for exactly what they say.

The Bible should be understood for what it says and not what we might infer from it.

Good morning dear pastor, that is true because today the lack of knowledge of the ministers has damaged the church of Jesus Christ, it is necessary to return to the Bible in its entirety.

The neo-Pentecostal movements are causing material injury to the doctrine, although obviously no one can alter the unalterable but hurt those who listen to them.
