Nā Pali Coast State Park

State Park Nā Pali Coast is a Hawaiian State Park with an area of ​​6,175 acres (2,499 hectares), located in the center of this austere, 16 miles (26 km) along the northwestern side of Kaua 'and the oldest inhabited island of Hawaii. The Nā Pali coast itself extends southwest, starting from Ke'e Beach stretching all the way to Polihale State Park. The piles (high cliffs) along the shoreline are as high as 4,000 feet (1,200 m) above the Pacific Ocean. A state park was created to protect the Kalalau valley.

To the east of the state park is the Hono O Nā Pali Nature Reserve. It was founded in 1983, and then expanded to over 3,578 acres (14.5 km 2) in 2009. Tourists and hunters' paths have access to sharp ridges from Koke'e Road (route 550) in Waimea canyon.The first settlers on the Nā Pali coast were Polynesian navigators around AD 1200. Shortly thereafter, many Tibetan migrants followed them, shaping the culture of Kauai and other Hawaiian islands today. The coast was a shopping center between Hanalei, Waimea and Ni'ihau, and branched near the island colonies. After Kauai visited Captain Cook in 1778, many Westerners began traveling to the island. When more foreigners arrived, the Hawaiian tribes along the Nā Pali coast, where the Nā Pali State Park is currently located, began to die because of Western diseases. The last known Indigenous Hawaiians who lived along the Nā Pali coast were seen in the twentieth century.
