How To Create and Send Encrypted E-mail, Messages and Explore Cryptography
I have previously written how to create your own discord bot but I never posted through Utopian-io. I am seeing that it's a good place to share how-to tutorials even as simple as how to edit a post. This time, I am going to share How to send encrypted messages. It's also a gateway for you to understand more about cryptography and cryptocurrency in general.
Whether it's going to be just for fun, for serious use, for whatever use it is, through this end of the tutorial you will learn how to create a public key, sending an encrypted message and if lucky, you can understand and grasps cryptography better yet, cryptocurrency.
The first thing you have to download is
Gpg4win, a free email and file encryption package for data encryption and digital signature. It also has options like reporting bugs, translations and so forth. If you ever running out of idea on project translation, you might want to do a translation for this project.
Here is the download site Gpg4win.
Follow all required installation and after it's installed open the file.
STEPS
The first thing to do is to click keys and new key. You will see a popup window as seen below.
Fill the name and your email address
Create a strong paraphase. This is also seen in most cryptocurrency wallet. Always store them offline and don't forget. Else you can not encrypt the message.
As soon as you click OK and forward you will see something like this
Now, to view your public key click on Export. You will have to name your file and then click save.
Now go to your folder and you will see a file like below. All you have to do is open the file with Notepad, Wordpad or Notepad++
This is the key that you can share in your Steemit page, Website, discord, anywhere suit you so you can send an encrypted message.
Now moving on to the next step
How To Send an Encrypted E-mail and Message
Go to clipboard and write the message you want to encrypt.
Click encrypt and this is what you will see. You have to copy and paste the whole message so the other party can decrypt your message.
copy and paste the whole message into your email or discord.
And Now any of your friend who has your public key will now be able to encrypt your message. To read encrypted message all you have to do is go to clipboard, copy- paste and click decrypt.
I will share more on cryptography. For now try this and have fun :). Always use at your own risk!

Hi all, @macchiata and I noticed that there are some important steps missing in this tutorial:
First of all, you'll need to separate your public and private keys. If you do NOT do this, other people will be able to view all your encrypted messages when you share your key. To do this, open your key file with Notepad, COPY ONLY THE PUBLIC KEY into a NEW text file, and save the new file as your Public Key.
Secondly, you'll need someone else's public key to send an encrypted message to that person. When you have their key, you need to import the file to GPA. Then, when encrypting a message, you need to select the other person's Public Key, and sign the message with your own Private Key. Only then will the other person be able to decrypt the message you sent them.
Please let me know if I should make an instruction video, because it can be quite difficult to take in all at once. :)
Steem on!
Great tutorial, thanks. I would be REALLY happy to know how to encrypt 1 specific file in a similar way...
@bubke, coming up for the next part :) but as long as you have GpG4win the installation comes with Kleopatra. It's used for encrypting a specific file.
Just what we need but i will just wait for your next tutorial to save some time :-). I see the lion's league, are you kaas or frieten?
hey @bubke here is the one that you requested How to Create Encrypted File with Kleopatra| Cryptography Series. I am neither but maybe a kaas :p
@macchiata Good info
There is a function in my Bitshares acc. For encrypted messages but i didnt use it yet.. Cause most of my friends I communicate via whatsapp etc.. But with the current problems central exchange offices are suffering from. I prefer a decentralise exchange like BTS from now on :)
Whatsapp in the hands of facebook, i would use this instead :-)
@markush the ninjastoner How have you been? I know this form Ancap group where they communicate via encryption and It looks fun so I decided to share this. It's good if you want to share any confidential information and prefers privacy. I didn't know BTS have that but now It makes me want to check them out. Lately, I am very dissapointed with Bittrex :D so yeah I am looking for non-complicated exchange.
Great day to you :)
@cryptobean im okay thanks for asking. And you? Yes its good you share this people should add more value to their privacy.
Yes BTS is cool, but for trading... mwa. Im at bitfinex now. Proper charts. and a bit more options then bittrex. Are you familiar yet with coinigy? if not you have to :)
thanks you two!
@bubke. Yes I used Wicker. also crypted stuf. But not much people use it. So in a way they make you have to use these FB related apps.
peace
