RE: I Got Flagged Three Times Yesterday. Did You?

in #community6 years ago

Yep, I got two yesterday; different names than yours. Brian got one on a post from two weeks ago, but the flagging happened yesterday. I just spoke with @jbreheny who also received one yesterday.

Like yours, mine was 100%, but 0 dollar value.

Not sure what kind of muck is about at the moment Glen?

Good question. You know what I know. Someone or someones is/are disgruntled with those who flag a lot and so they're pretending to be them to some degree to, what? Bring attention to the flag a lots? While flagging for no reason themselves? A lot?

It doesn't make much sense to me, but I suppose if you've tried diplomacy, and nothing else seems to work, you bring out the desperate measures for the perceived desperate times.

It's not like I know how to make any sense of it. I can't even make sense of things that others think are perfectly fine. :)

hahaha he/she/they are totally flagging the wrong people then!

Is this something to report to steemcleaners then? Or just that one that was impersonating them?

I'm choosing to ignore for the time being, I think. I think there must be plenty of them though, because they all have different names. A real nuisance if nothing else.

The advice I was given was to mention pjau (he's the one I talked to) when/if flagging occurs. They're aware of 70 different accounts. Who knows, maybe there will be more. At any rate, I think he's okay with tracking what's going on.

Other than that, I'm not sure what else there is to do. Until they actually have something to flag, there's not much that can be done to their accounts. So we spread the word and hope to steer clear of the anklebiters and hope they don't manage to grow into Dobermans, I guess. Not the kind of strategy I like, but that seems to be the norm around here, doesn't it?

Not the kind of strategy I like either. It's a bit of a wait and see, then if/when the problem gets bigger, it's that much more difficult to clean up. I would think that any account who is randomly and without cause, flagging posts, should be stopped. Period.

But what do I know?

Have a good night Glen. On that sorry note, I'm closing up shop for the night :)

Yeah, I just got my first 2 down votes myself today, both accounts with 15 sp. I like the ankle biter analogy, very fitting. I'm glad I read your article before I saw that or it would have probably raised my blood pressure a bit, it is still annoying though. Anyways here's an extra upvote to help offset the ankle biters.

Well, that's very nice of you, and I'm glad it was able to keep the blood pressure down, as that was at least part of the post's intent. There are so many things going on here that it's good when there's someone filling the rest of us in so we can be on the lookout, since there's no one central information source.

The ankle biter idea is more or less my frustration spilling out. I kind of think they may be going about this the wrong way, though. I don't know if they're trying to make a point in a hurry, but if they really wanted to inflict damage, they would bide their time, build up their accounts and somehow their reps, and then start hitting folks. I'm not trying to give them any ideas, but putting yourself on the radar before you're really in any position to defend yourself isn't the smartest of moves in my view.

Of course, I don't pretend to know why people do half of the things they do here, so what do I know? :)
