Do your chickens go absolutely ballistic with sounds when they get their scrap bowl to eat?
It's too funny and just cracks me up every day. Hens usually only make this sound when they are trying to lay an egg, but if I give em some treats, it's like every hen I have starts laying eggs at the same time, and I'm there like the Crazy Chicken Lady I am, conducting the madness with my invisible conductors wand.

I dont think you are a weirdo although I must admit, I live in an apartment by the beach in Florida. Not too many chickens squawking here. I do know the sound though and it nature. Animals are always so pure and true...they do what is natural without any false intent. What you get in genuine. When they hurt, you know it...when happy, the same.
No facade with them.....in many ways, they are easier to deal with than people.

you doing great and be assured, you not alone in this... many of us also do enjoy the crazy chickens when they keep up their loud noises! very nice poultry shelters... hope you enjoying enough organic eggs... use the eggshells also for yourself... pets and garden... do you allow them move around? nice post...
Yes, we do allow them to free range, not much in the summer because they go after my garden foods, lately I have been letting them out starting in the afternoon. That way they don't have too much time to get into trouble haha!

I thought we had 50 egg layers but we counted them the other night, and actually we have 57 ahhhahaha. 36 of them are pretty young.

Yes, my husband did a great job on the paint, I was actually against it at first, just because of the time it would take hahahhaa and now I'm SOOOOO glad he didn't listen to me!
