Canadian Winter Wonderland

Join me for a quick walk on the Covered Bridge Trail!

As it has snowed again and we had at least one foot of fresh snow, we went out for walk on a trail, just outside the city. The roads were clean and there was no traffic. It took us fifteen minutes to get there.

Each time I drive by this sign I am wondering why it has been put there, since there is no space to park on any of the sides of the road. The lanes are quite narrow. I believed it was common sense not to do so, but I guess I was wrong. Someone must have done it and got a ticket. Then the local authorities felt the need to waste more money on unnecessary road signs.

In order to enter the trail we had to cross a wooden bridge which looked like a magical gateway between two worlds: the busy highway and the quiet forest.

Everything looked so peaceful and beautiful, as if we stepped into the enchanted forest.

This trail is an easy one, as is not longer than 2-3 km, depending on the route you chose to take.

These pieces of ice floating in the river looked like ice water lilies.

I could not help myself from throwing this photo in here. Without these babies I would not have been able to go on the trail.

This iced maroon was a perfect splash of colour, contrasting the white snow.

After one hour and a half of admiring nature's beauty, we headed back to the car and drove home.

In case you were wondering what's the deal with Canadians and their love for snow or hockey, here's your answer. It's the rare footage of a Canadian being born.

Happy Sunday everyone !

What a wonderful stroll through a new snow. Very nicely presented.

I live in the desert and this is about as close to snow as I like to get :)

Thank you.

Which desert are you? I bet you must have some incredible sunsets!

Sonoran. The very SW corner of Arizona. We have really good sunsets, but our sunrises are hard to beat. There is a range of what pass for mountains just east of us. A lot of color, and often overnight moisture that really make them special.

It looks like a lovely little romantic stroll.

It was indeed a really nice stroll. Thanks for stopping by!

Walking and seeing the beautiful scenery is wonderful

Nature is always mesmerizing.

Wow, the birth of a Canadian! That guy must've been stone cold. Am not really fond of too much cold but I've never seen snow. hmmm I might try going to a cold place in the future.

If you never saw snow, then you will enjoy it. But when you have it for close to six months per year or more, you get fed up with it.

I know no planning of staying in one. I can't stand the cold! I'm from a tropical country so doing it once in a while would be great :)

All locations have their pros and cons. I love living in a tropical country but I have a problem with the snakes. Canada is an amazing country but winters are too darn cold and long.

I'm afriad of snakes as well.. but I don't hate them. Have you every encountered one before?^^

I did. More times than I would have liked to. Maybe I should write a post about it. ;-)

Hmm would love to read it. Tag me when you do so I can read it. ^^

So much snow - brrr I feel cold already! I like the contrast too but the maroon in the image seems more like dark red - which is of course even better to me. :-)

I liked that shade of burgundy too!

Wow, so much snow. The scenery is so beautiful, a frozen wonderland. I thought someone had left pancakes floating on the water - what funny ice formations. Loved the pretty red plant as well, an all round superb #sublimesunday thanks for joining in :-)

I can see where that maroon would have drawn the attention of hour lens in that icy environment. Nice photos.

Thank you for your visit and comment.

It's beautiful - but I do NOT miss the snow.

I believe you. I am tired of it too.

We even got sun and clear skies today. WHOO HOO!
