Perspective: Finding the Diamonds

in #sports9 years ago (edited)

I have two photos of Tom Brady on my phone. The first one, is the picture you see above. If you did not know who Tom Brady is, you'd most likely dismiss the name and move on after seeing this photo. You'd be sorely mistaken.

Tom is one of the greatest, if not thee greatest NFL quarterback of all time. Yet, at the time he entered the NFL, he was a nobody. The Patriots drafted him in the 6th round, and Tom was a backup to a star quarterback in Drew Bledsoe.

What people didn't see was Brady's work ethic, and unrelenting spirit.

Now you see the superstar right? We are used to seeing the glamorous photos of successful people, but there is joy in finding the diamonds in the rough.

We pass Tom Brady's everyday. Not that everyone is cut out to be a hall of fame quarterback, but each person has a gift that only they can share with people.

The thoughts and talents of people are deep waters. But it is the wise and caring individuals that seek out and encourage those talents to be realized.

These two photos of Brady are a reminder to me as I scroll through my photos to keep my eye out for those Diamonds. We may be just the friend they need in the moment.

@lydon.sipe you are the rough unpolished diamond that will soon shine when steem price explodes to 1K+ in few years time-thanks goodness that I found you when you are still unpolished ...remember me when you are in paradise!!!

You are such an encouraging individual. Exciting times ahead!

Exciting times ahead indeed

Interesting thoughts, Lydon. My take on it is that it serves as a reminder to me. Like you say, we dont see, and cant what is behind a man's eyes. For good or bad. I always seem to see people as I am... This has been both good and bad for me. As a young broker it was good because I wasnt intimidated by folks that were vastly more wealthy and powerful than I was. It didnt bother me, I felt we both put our pants on one leg at a time. They werent better, they were just better off. However, it has been bad because I trusted folks more than I should have to act as I would act with honesty and integrity. Its a lesson I still struggle with, but I have gotten better at it as Ive aged.

That is a powerful lesson. You are someone who seeks the best in people, and that discernment grows with each lesson.

Tom has achieved all because of his hard work and determination :) and that motivates me too

you are right, there is joy in finding the diamonds in the rough.

Indeed there is.

who doesn't know Tom and who doesn't want to be him??!!

Haha, he has a good life that is

hehe, yes he has

I will look for his full story on google and read about him

it is what??

Haha, sorry. It is a good one.

hahahaha, yes, it is

I like this because I'm a lot bigger on the inside than on the outside, but I went through my life like a fist pounding and smashing, and it was so unnecessary. I'd like to say I've mellowed out, but ask my wife...okay, maybe not, but I think I'm slowly finding a balance :)

Haha, oh I do intend to ask her someday. :)

Great Wisdom in this Post!

Thank you!
