A Sample of Weaving
While I don't weave too often, I do sample my yarns on a pin loom and from time to time, I like to break out the rigid heddle loom for some light weaving. I haven't gotten too crazy with patterns yet, but I have done some color play.
This first scarf is made from handspun Shetland wool, which was then dyed in a self-striping pattern. This was the first scarf I made on my Ashford Sample-It Loom. This now lives on my husband's nightstand.
This next scarf was made from commercially prepared yarn that had been dyed by an indie dyer, Creature Comforts. The colorway is "Camping."
Next up is a scarf where I did some color-play. I have a large collection of sample yarns from indie dyers, handspinners, and commercial samples. I dug through my stash, found a range of yarns that I paired together and then alternated between black bamboo and the sample yarns.
Finally, this was a fun scarf I wove from linen yarn. I discovered that it is somewhat difficult to find 100% linen yarn in the US, but I managed to find these blues and white. This is a very light scarf, more appropriate for fall than for winter.
Sometimes the loom is perfect for those yarns that have been sitting in my stash since the beginning of time that need to be used up quickly.

Tub Cat likes weaved things. They are good for his tiny claws.
