the source is in the Guinea Highlands in southeastern Guinea. breathtaking is in a crescent through Mali, Niger,
on the border with Benin and then through Nigeria,

discharging through a massive delta, known as the Niger Delta into the Gulf of Guinea in the Atlantic Ocean.

It is one of my favorite spots in delta were i live. It is about 30-45 minutes drive from my home.

@In my country Nigeria the river Niger has different names in the different languages of the region:

Manding: Jeliba or Joliba called it @"great river"
Igbo: Orimiri or Orimili called it @"great water"
Tuareg: Egerew n-Igerewen called it @"river of rivers"
Songhay: Isa Ber called it @"big river", or simply Isa "the river" in Zarma
Hausa: called it @Kwara
Yoruba: called it @Oya
