Art on somewhat strange objects
Walking through IKEA I took some photographs of objects that, to me, are somewhat strange, but to other people have a nuance that they like. This object, I suppose those who designed it knew what they were doing; in any case, it has its art since the design is somewhat peculiar.
Now let's look at the design of this one. There aren't just one or two of these; there are many. Maybe some people will take them home. If it weren't for that, there wouldn't be so many on the shelf. It must sell, but I wouldn't buy it.
I love glass objects, but this one has a design I don't know how to describe. Honestly, I don't know what it's for. As I write this, I'm thinking about how much I love going to my second home, and in this post I'm giving some of their products a bad review.
This other one, I like seeing the Swedish lettering, however, I think the price is too high, I wouldn't buy it. There are more and more objects that might seem unusual to us, yet they are sold.
This lamp, when turned on, has a variation in its colors, that is, it changes from blue to purple, to red, etc. I think that the artist who designed it perhaps didn't think about this, however, the addition of color contrast makes it look better.
The photos are mine, taken with my SAMSUNG S20FE mobile phone.

There's a saying that goes: "There's someone for every taste," alluding to the fact that many people have tastes somewhat different from the common ones. But if they sell these things, it's a business and it has to be profitable. At IKEA, they sell many objects that people buy and use in different ways, but which are somewhat unusual. This is absolutely true.
I'm being a bit dramatic, or maybe not, even though there's information on the label, I wouldn't buy this at first glance, but as you say, everyone decides.
People rarely decide. They buy because of FOMO.
The only reason there are many is because it is way too expensive to produce only ten, although this would be a better way of marketing if things are ugly and useless as what you showed.
I doubt an artist is behind it, someone who put his heart and soul into this.
More a team of PR people trying to fool others and Ikea is great at that.
I would buy something I consider ugly or glasses with prints, items with the name of a brand on it. If they want me to advertise their brand they should pay for that.
If it comes to those lights changing colours you can buy them since years and simply put a bulb in your present lamp. Or you buy a string of led lights which does the same.
That last lamp has a lot in common with ugly vintage lamps or East European outside lamps. Nothing new. Just Ikea presents it and provides it with a nonsense name.
You know which items you find most in the give away shop? Items Ikea sells and new clothes from Shein.
I've never bought anything at IKEA, only coffee and some cakes, but I want to buy one of these, I like it
It is interesting you never bought anything. I bought glasses, some cups (blue, I already broke two ☹️), the couch, a seat and the mattresses (not the best one, I don't recommend them nor the couch).
Then what stops you? Just make sure you like to drink out of them. I had several glasses and mugs Indidn't like because of that reason.
When I saw these little cups I liked them, I'll buy two
