I Open Me (Original Poem)
(i’m not openly myself, with you)
.
i am the apogee
of your eyes
sometimes you land on me
but you're only passing by the by
surfing for that far off point
where it all ends and then
comes back for more again.
.
you leave me quick and carelessly
abandon of momentary curiosity
but you never get the answers
and never ask
or give any
broken compass refusing
to aid navigation
no direction
chosen to take care
stalling so long
our batteries run low.
.
i am ticking off
rolling around
just like a clock
dangling from a chain
when freed from your pocket
you don't let me fly or sing
my purity was found "pretty"
you just wanted to preserve me
so now my only field trips
are granted if
i press and flail louder
than ignoreable shooting ranges.
.
i am the long handed wind
that tells tree limbs to wave
they blow leaves
coldly down into your face
for the things i can't yet
make myself say to it straight.

This is an old one that's always been one of my faves... I can sing and hum it to myself randomly still. Something I was reading here today made me think of it, and so here we go. :)
