RE: The Steem Blockchain Can Not Be Censored.

in #steem5 years ago

I think the value of the Steem blockchain increases with each new interface using it for value creation which includes content, gaming, and more. I highlighted some content sites which use Steem, but I could have also highlighted things like SteemMonsters or Fundition.io or any number of other interfaces which use the Steem blockchain. Steemit, right now, seems to provide a negative influence on the perception of the token and the chain based on conversations I've had with investors who simply don't understand how separate they are. I still use steemit.com myself (along with others). I don't have a problem with the interface as I've gotten quite used to it. If it were to go away, that wouldn't be the end of the world though. My main concern would be the loss of SEO value gained over time.

I think that sooner or later some major game development companies like EA or Activision Blizzard (or new 100% blockchain based decentralized DAOs) will create MMOs and other games that can build upon and replicate the success of classic games such as World of Warcraft, WC3, Overwatch, Hearthstone, DOTA, Diablo, Starcraft, SWTOR, etc. where the entire game runs on a blockchain (preferably Steem) and where all currency/characters/items/skins are tradable for crypto.

If said games add the feature of being able to stream directly from within the game interface and upload videos to different platforms like Dtube/Youtube/Twitch etc., that would revolutionize the gaming/streaming industries and massively boost the use of the chosen blockchain platform(s) on which the said games would operate on.

Steemit Inc, being the largest and wealthiest stakeholder on the Steem blockchain has to LEAD and create a structured foundation with business leaders, developers, marketers, etc. (like the Ethereum Foundation did) and spearhead the future growth of the Steem blockchain ecosystem. I think we have all been saying this for quite a while now.

In my opinion, EOS and TRON are doing leaps and bounds ahead of Steem because of their organization and planning skills, whereas Steemit Inc. is still lagging behind on many fronts relative to other blockchain projects leadership teams.

Huge market cap coins like EOS or Tron will always make more noise in terms of development than Steem which had 70% layoffs not long ago. Compare 3billion against 100million market caps and you will get what we have today, fatigued community, ups and downs, leadership without clear goal. Steem is not looking good atm, we are fine in terms of staying on 50th place, but to move forward I think we will need a miracle.

Fatigued community ... I like this description ... and agree we need a miracle

@moonwalker Someone told me before the holidays that the witnesses do not answer to Steemit Inc. (I'm still new to all the technical things around here) ...is this true? Why don't they just start implementing all the thins that everyone is talking about? There is so much potential here, it would be such a shame to see it continue to falter.

Most Witnesses only create blocks (run Steem blockchain) and run their own businesses (like Steem Monsters, SmartSteem etc.), they don't code as Steemit Inc. developers do and implement that code via hardforks for Steem blockchain, some are capable to do so, but witnesses are there mainly to make Steem blockchain safe. My guess why witnesses as a whole don't make something great for the whole Steem ecosystem is because they are all individuals and to organize them all from all over the globe is not an easy task.

@steem.services well said. Let's hope we don't end up like myspace. There is a lot of potential here.
