Exchange Transfer Report: 1/8/2017 to 1/14/2017

in #stats7 years ago

exchange_transfer_report9fade.png

USD values are calculated per day via API feeds from Poloniex (for STEEM and SBD values in BTC) and Coindesk (for USD value of BTC). For the hourly breakdown graphs, I show the USD values using the weighted average for that day. For the top 50 reports in USD terms, I then took the average USD value for STEEM and SBD for the week using the daily average which came out to:

  • STEEM: $0.14214
  • SBD: $0.99449

Previous Report:

  • STEEM: $0.16035
  • SBD: $0.99366

Assumptions

Please see the first report for a detailed explanation of my personal assumptions related to what this data could mean (along with commentary on previous reports). What it does not show is people powering up, powering down, or if they are buying or selling on an exchange. It's just some interesting data dealing with transfers to and from exchange accounts.

Commentary

  • Very interesting to see @thejohalfiles cashing out a bit. Didn't they buy in at a higher rate?

  • @noagenda is once again at the top of the list for deposits. One has to wonder... what's their agenda? ;-)

  • The withdrawal to deposit ratio isn't improving at 6.55 to 1. :(

  • Is the value of STEEM stagnant? Is that something we can even know from these numbers? Could this incredible system explode in value in the future for no apparent reason than the market just decides it to be so? Possibly. I'm going to stick around and find out.

  • The powerdown amounts for next week look better than this week:

Luke Stokes is a father, husband, business owner, programmer, voluntaryist, and blockchain enthusiast. He wants to help create a world we all want to live in.

Sort:

With the price being relatively stable at this withdrawal to deposit ratio I can't wait to see what happens when the ratio is 1:1! I hope to see my next deposit in your next report :-)

you might have spoke too soon. on the price being stable

I keep hanging on to hope thinking the same thing, but the ratio just keeps going in the wrong direction. What will bring in new users/investors?

Nothing, this platform isn't ready for mainstream, the content looks like it was churned out by high school students in the 90's on 96K baud modems.

Are you talking about the design/layout of the content or the content itself?

Have you seen content on reddit, twitter, facebook? The stuff here isn't all that bad, IMO.

I think there are some great ideas here on steemit, but the look of it is very hard on the eyes.

Gotcha. I'm a programmer, so I don't mind the layout much at all. Sites like Craig's List and the Drudge Report are horrible, but still have large user bases. If this became more well known and understood and if other social media sites kept doing things people don't like such as censorship, too many ads, etc, then this place could grow rather quickly, regardless of what it looks like design wise. At least, that's my current thinking, but again, I'm not a designer. I don't think it's all that bad. :)

Having an account that was once worth nearly 500 USd now valued at 60 that just last week had made a small recovery to 120, just kills it for me.

I guess the ratio should stabilize after the first 3 months powerdown period. Shouldn't it?

That's an interesting theory. It's better than any I have. Let's go with it. :)

Ultimately, if we don't get an exponentially growing number of people joining, it's hard toimagine a scenario where it will hit critical mass. Of those new users, a percentage will have to be investors depositing money as well.

You have my upvote. I'm glad to see this transfer report finally being rewarded like it should have been from the start. Keep it up!

Thanks! I've had plenty of rewards, so no worries there. I think a lot of it just comes down to timing of when I post it. Sunday nights (CST) seem to work better than Monday during the day. I recognize Steemit is a lotto, so I'm just thankful for whatever comes my way. This is data I'm personally interested in knowing about, so I do it for myself mostly and am happy to share with others, though it does take some effort to put together.

Thanks again for your support!
