Resin Coniferous Trees
My photos during the walk.
Coniferous resin plays a very important role in the life of trees.
Resin flowing to the surface of a crack or wound prevents the penetration of pathogens into the wood or bark beetles into the wood.
Resin of coniferous trees has antiseptic and bactericidal properties.
The resin is formed in the outer layers of the tree.
In the outer layers of the tree there are resin ducts.
These are narrow channels filled with resin.
These channels are located in the wood structure both horizontally and vertically, thus forming a single resin-bearing system.
The length of the resin passages can be from 10 to 80 cm.
Resin coniferous trees used in medicine and in industry.
Very interesting! Not edible!
