Quotes and my perspective...# 20

While this initially looks to be an obvious truism, if you delve a little further into it doesn't really hold up strongly enough to be classed as anything close to 'wisdom'.

“It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.”

Think about it....

Isn't Donald Trump loved more for what he is not, as much as being hated for what he is?

Isn't freedom loved more for what is is not, for as much as what it is?

Another example of the intellectually weak argument, posing as being intelligent...

(In fairness, I haven't read André Gide, so it would be very unfair to say this of him, as I have not read it in context of his writings...)

It is very fair to have this viewpoint in respect to anyone trying to use it, in an attempt at wisdom or intellect.

It shows quite the opposite, in reality.

ABSOLUTELY -but its easier for many (majority), and rarely done by the few - the one's who do...always pay a hefty price at some point. The other examples, follow along the same lines. I haven't read André Gide either - but know this one (hung in my office)
