Steemit: Creating a culture of generosity!

“Generosity could be as contagious as the zombie plague as long as enough people were willing to be carriers.”

— Jonathan Maberry, Dust and Decay

Generosity is a habit and we have to practice it everyday to make it part of our natural response. We've all seen parents tell their kids to share their toys with other kids and be nice to others. I think Steemit is doing the same with us in its own unique way. Steemit is changing our behaviour and making us more generous by giving us the tools to give to others everyday without any serious expectation of return.

Thank you for upvoting, resteeming or commenting on this post or any other post on the Steemit platform - Keep giving :)

Nice post, can't wait for more of it

Thank you, that's very kind of you.
I am going to try and practice generosity today by upvoting others with my little minnow SP as much as I can :)

But, would this analogy mean I have to bite someone if I want to be generous to them?

Kidding of course. It's a nice quote.

Ha ha ha :) I suppose it may mean different things to different people!

Thank you for stopping by. I better come and visit your blog to see what you've been up to :)

Hello, I'm Oatmeal Joey Arnold, and I agree that generosity can become a habit as we make it one.

What a cool name you've got Oatmeal :)
I love Oatmeal comics! Are you a fan?

Yeah, Oatmeal Comics is pretty cool and funny.

A culture of generosity is rooted in righteousness. I agree completely with you.

:) Be generous today in whatever little way you can! Thank you for stopping by :)

I so agree. My parents, and especially my mom, always taught us to give to those less fortunate, but even more important, to simply be nice to those we meet on our path, and to go out of our way to smile in greeting, even when sometimes we might not feel like smiling.

She even made a game of getting people to smile back at her, especially when she saw someone who looked dour in traffic, and it almost always worked, even if they smiled a bit grudgingly at first.

When I was in my late teens, I read about a study that showed that, by the simple act of smiling, seratonin is immediately released in the brain, making us literally feel happier. I redoubled my efforts to smile at everyone whose paths I crossed, because I was benefiting us both by doing so.

Years later, a young man from my neighborhood came up and thanked me, because he said he had gone through a period of being terribly despondent. He said that one of the main things that gave him hope was that, every time we saw one another, I smiled at him. He said he had been contemplating suicide, and that I helped him to come back from the brink, even though we didn't know one another except by sight.

By giving to one another, in whatever form that may take, we are spreading our own hope and love in the world, and who knows what the ultimate effects may be?

I am convinced, from long experience, that it is absolutely worth it, every moment of every day.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment @crescendoofpeace :) It is wonderful that your mom found a fun way to teach you one of the most important skills in life and that it not only saved that young man's life but probably helped a lot of other people as well who may have never told you about it. I love how well you put it: "By giving to one another, in whatever form that may take, we are spreading our own hope and love in the world". I hope more people see this and learn from your story. xxx

Well, I already resteemed your post, so hopefully a few more will see it from that little bit of exposure. ;-)

Well thank you very much lovely lady :)
That's really kind of you xxx
I will come and visit your blog soon :)

You're welcome any time. ;-)
Hopefully you'll find something to your liking.

That is one thoughtful line can make ecosytem of any atmosphere serene.

Thanks for stopping by :)

Nice quote and very true indeed - like rings on water :) what is so fantastic about giving is that we always get more in return, because there is such satisfaction in the act of giving

So true! Our ability to give sort of dictates what life is willing to give us in return. Thank you so much for your comment, I know you are really generous to others on the platform. I hope to try and imitate good behaviour too :)

Wise words @lucygarrod !

Well thank you @posy :) That's really kind of you.
I have been so awfully busy lately that I haven't had a chance to write much. I will try and start churning out some content in this coming week. Hopefully you and Posy will enjoy it ;)

Really looking forward to read more! :-)

I am a big fan of zombie plague like the Walking dead ;). Also, I agree that Steemit is a big-sharing community.

Ha ha ha ;) I know zombie plagues can be very entertaining :D
Thank you for checking out my little post, it means a lot :)

My pleasure, and I predict you are going to be successful on the platform. When you are a lawyer, you need to have a well-written skill ;)

Generosity is real but the zombie plague is not. Generosity brings softness among the giver and also brings a peace of mind which is perhaps healthy for Heart.

He he he :) why would you assume Zombie Plague is not real? It's like telling a child that Santa isn't real ;)
I agree with you generosity is good for all and most importantly for the one who practices it. Thank you for your kind and thoughtful comment, it is much appreciated :)
