A new life far from your family and your friends. Is it possible?

First of all, I should start by saying that I have always been really close to my family and also really proud of my friends, but, deep down in my heart, I knew it would not stop me from facing the world and moving to another state(maybe to another country soon?) to study what I wanted. It's only been two weeks since I moved out of my hometown and started a new life by my own, but I have already felt like I could not live without them. So I decided that if I was so sure about what I wanted to do, I would not let those feelings affect me in anyway and started making the most of what I can do to enjoy this new experience.
I guess I could say the most important lesson is to gather people around you, because being lonely only makes it worse. My tip is, no matter if it is job or university(mine is university), arrive earlier than you're supposed to. There will always be people who arrive early, so that is a good way to meet new people: you can ask them about something you would like to know more about or even ask something YOU ALREADY KNOW, the only goal is to make it obvious that you're interested in a conversation.
Another crucial tip is to get involved in activities related to your environment, it makes it easier for you to socialize. In my experience, I joined the volleyball team of my university, but it can be whatever you're stronger at, because you also have to be aware that if you're not good for those people, it would be in vain. Therefore, try to find your strengths and EXPLORE them as much as you can, maybe you can also be recognized by them.
I don't think living alone is a nice option if it is your first time by yourself. Perhaps it would be better if you shared an apartment or a house with someone else, it is both cheap and healthy for you. Since it is my first time by myself, I rented a house where there are other people, that way, even though I don't know the people from my new city, there will be those people there at home when I'm feeling lonely.
