Beautiful Lighthouses
Lighthouses used to be a necessary tool to warn mariners of land masses. They are now seen as iconic emblems of sea-travel and waterways, though many still offer navigation assistance to ships. Here are some beautiful lighthouses:
Portland Headlight, Maine - This was completed in 1791, making it the oldest lighthouse in Maine and one of the oldest lighthouses in America.
The St. Augustine Light, Florida - Since 1994, the property has been open to the public as part of the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum.
Block Island Southeast, Rhode Island - The Victorian-style light keeper's building stands out for its architectural beauty.
White Shoal Light, Michigan - It is the only aluminum-topped lighthouse on the Great Lakes, and also the only “barber pole” lighthouse in the U.S.

Bass Harbor Head Station, Maine
Fanad Lighthouse, Ireland
