Vegetable Garden

Anyone who knows me, knows I'm not much of a gardener. However after becoming redundant I had time on my hands to give it a crack. It was the best feeling to eat your own home grown stuff
We had to tomatoes (pictured), eggplants (these grew awesome), cucumber lettuce and a thing called okura. We we're lucky that the landlord didn't mind what we did with the garden.

At first we had a few problems with a white bug valled a mealy bug attacking the tomatoes. We tried a some things, but the one that worked was a mixture of chilli, water, olive oil, a tiny bit of detergent. After that they left the tomatoes alone.

It was a good feeling of to be out doing stuff with your hands, it felt productive, at time when I wasn't feeling the best after losing my job. It felt like it had more meaning, even more than the job I had.

We need ed a bit of table and some cupboards, but anxious not to spend anything. I got some palettes and put together a few things. Made a little table shown below.

Since then we have made a few changes out of necessity so we no longer can have a garden. Although I do keep a chili plant in launceston. But it helped alot to have some thing to do in between applying for jobs. It is something we will do again when we are more settled and next time I think we will have chooks too.

For me it was more than just a garden. I thought things were bad then, they got much worse, but thinking back to then, helps me look forward. I'm planning a simpler life:)

I'd love to get into gardening but I don't have one. Or a balcony even. I really enjoy watching Jake Mace on youtube though. His gardening channel is phenomenal. I want to live at his house just for all the fruits and vegetables he grows! You should check him out if you don't know of him and you're into gardening. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCulJ7FwgzZFDsivjLnnbuHQ?&ab_channel=VeganAthlete

Ill take a look. Sadly i don't do much gardening now as I don't have the space either. However I'm definitely in to doing, growing, repairing and making as much stuff as possible and minimising the money I spend and whay I spend it on. Thanks for taking the time to post a comment choo.

They say money doesn't grow on trees, but it totally does if you grow your own food.

Looks good. Keep growin' and keep steemin'

That table is awesome. I think too many have become so used to buying everything they have forgotten they have hands. Good work. Hope the study helps with work or Steemit means you have the chance to do other stuff too.

I'll resteem you occasionally and hope it helps.

Love it!
Growing your own food is the future...

Its so good when you can grow your own. Hopefully soon you'll get back to one. Keep the chooks out of the garden though..nightmare lol!
