The Good Lie (2014) by Philippe Falardeau (REVIEW)

in #movie6 years ago

The movie plot goes like this. A very powerful story about the life of children from Sudan who, after their parents got killed, they have no choice but to walk thousands of miles away, left on mercy to find a safe cover. After 13 years the road brings them to America where they must adapt to a totally new way of life.

A deep story that I do not think anyone would leave indifferent. It’s so powerful that you will experience strong and real emotions about the characters, you will feel every pain and every happiness that they had. (This I believe is due to the fact that the characters in the movie are indeed part of the “Lost Sudanese children” and their acting simply stems from their hearts).

With a moderate dose of humor and a not-so-moderate dose of reflection of their fateful destinies, you melt into waves of emotions through as the movie goes by. At the same time, you learn and admire the children after everything they have gone through in life, the will to be part of this cruel world is stronger than anything, succeeding in retaining all their virtues that they possess, making them good and generous people above all.

I warmly recommend it, it’s worth watching.

I love sharing the real gems in movies and TV series I find on Netflix. This looks like one I may have to add to the list.
