Se7en (1995) by David Fincher (REVIEW)

Another movie, another masterpiece from the well-known movie director David Fincher. The movie “Se7en” is his first masterpiece and it’s on my top 10 list of mystery movies of all time.

The movie is about a serial killer who uses the seven deadly sins as a “method of work”. Two detectives, a veteran Morgan Freeman that plays “Somerset” and the young with little no experience in the crime section is Millis which is played by Brad Pitt. They haunt this psychotic killer who is spectacularly intelligent person and the chase will change their lives forever.

The action takes place in a gloomy city, in which it always rains, it’s dark and ghastly. Detective William Somerset eagerly awaits another week to go to a well-deserved retirement. Freeman’s acting is great, his 32 years of hard working as detective can be seen on his staggered face. He is wasted, tired and he wants to step out of the game and retire peacefully. But after a murder will occur in his town he will be assigned to take the case and be a part of the investigation and the young inexperienced Millis will be his partner.

You can see the unhappiness in Somerset face at the beginning, but he still accepts it as his last case. In fact, Mills has to replace Somerset when he retires. Mills convince his wife to move to the city.

How the story will evolve in the later events will be much more than spectacular. The mystery unfolds in a way that you would never think of. This is the main feature of Fincher’s movies. We can say that this movie is one of the best film based on a serial killer story to date and definitely a movie that you must see, if you still haven’t seen it I highly recommend it.
