Perfect Blue (1997) by Satoshi Kon (REVIEW)

Mima is a young singer of "CHAM!", One of the most attractive pop groups of domestic audiences in Japan, with a fairly large fan base. One day Mima will tell her audience that she is leaving the band in order to become an actress. the decision provokes revolt among some of the fans, especially in the one that presents itself as "Me-Mania" who watches every detail of life every day.

But that does not bother Mima in general. She's a great actress in the crime scene "Double Bind" ", but life will change 360

degrees once it has to perform one scene where she was raped in a nightclub. After that scene she would dream of killing people in her suit while she was a singer, and the victims were people who blacken their career. And her dreams are being realized.

This sounds like a description of a feature film. But Perfect blue is an anime movie. Jean John is a psychologist and I must admit is one of the best of this genre I have ever seen. The director of Perfect Blue is Satoshi Con, in some way comes as a Japanese a version of Stanley Kubrick (the genre difference in each of his films) and of course a great refreshment from Haya Miyazaki (I have nothing against Hijao, a great director, but concentrates only on movies with fairytales).

Another thing, the film does not suffer from the standard anime features-the characters to be with big eyes, thin necks, big breasts, no over the top situations; each character is given a realistic feature (this is stated in case someone does not want to he sees this pearl just because he is an "anime").
