Tired of Trying to Convince my People to Get Involved with Crypto!

Ignorance is the worst plague of all.

Hilarious, isn't it? People just won't listen! The masses are and have always been helpless. Countless instances throughout history where real scientific pioneers got laughed at or even murdered for delivering the truth. Galileo Galilei for instance. But I'm not going to waste your time with history nor science.

I've been trying to convince everyone of my relatives and friends to buy BTC since March 2014. None of them listened. Then I tried the exact same with LTC on October 2016. Even though BTC had skyrocketed by that time, therefore proving my predictions right, nobody listened. Then I entered the exact same tiring process of trying to educate my people by attempting to convince them to join Steemit, since I discovered it on March 2017. This time I had already been proven right by LTC as well, yet only one of my friends registered to Steemit. ''Steemit is for free, at least give it a try!''. Nowadays' pump of Steem's price proved me right once again. Still wasn't convincing enough though.

But I'm a stubborn guy. I thought I'd do it again. I've been trying to convince people to invest in Ripple since October. Ripple was worth less than 0,21 USD a piece back then. Even though my predictions were right and backed by research, information and numbers, the vast majority of people still wouldn't listen. They still wouldn't feel trust for cryptos as they were still unable to comprehend the concept and how things work. Ignorance got the better of them.

People stare but don't see.

But that's okay with me! I wouldn't even be posting this story if it was just about me being ignored. I was more than ignored! I was insulted on multiple occasions, being told that I should better get a life instead of wasting my time with this crypto nonsense. Some of them even told me I was a loser for ''not having a real job'' even though I make a lot more than them! Other ''friends'' of mine got upset about seeing me succeed and started accusing me of ''not having time for my friends anymore'', like it's totally reasonable to be hanging out every day given the fact that I'm 28 years old. I think not! If you don't work enough when you're young, you're going to have a hard time with life when you're old.

Can you imagine that? I wouldn't profit in any way, shape or form if they took my advice and invested, I tried to help them make some money. Instead of being appreciated, and apart from being ignored or laughed at, I also got attacked and insulted on multiple occasions. I was even hated for being successful and insightful. The bottomline is that there's only so much knowledge or information one can absorb. Any more than that will be returned back to the source with ferocious force.

Thank you for your attention

It is interesting that I tried to get folks to follow me and no one listened. Not one. I announced this week that I am retiring. Now they are taking notice.

@socky I bet now they're respectful and seeking advice, aren't they? Nice of you to try and help others in the first place.

I love these people the most though. The ones who called me an idiot a year ago are now probing me. I made a rule, the only way I help them is if they admit they are the idiots and to never question me again... and to use my referral codes of course.

@ish58 Haha sounds fair to me!

Hahahahaha😂😂

I joined when one of my friends told me I should try this out. At first, I admit I wasn't sure but told myself it was worth a deeper look, but then again, I am an open-minded person who is usually curious and genuinely interested in what my friends are up to. However, I have decided to choose who I talk about this with since I have had some condescending attitudes and people mocking my interest. But it's their loss in the end, and my gain ; ) so I shrug it off!

@parlonsdrogues I feel you. I've been there! Don't worry though, let your success be your response!

The fact still remains that they either embrace now or later which will too late for them

I had a similar experience with a friend of mine who wouldn't join Steem even though I use it all the time to have interesting conversations with interesting people (and why not him by the same token). Granted, the man has never had a social media account. But he used to be in IT before his self-funded retirement (a bachelor, can survive on little). He views Steem with suspicion, calling it a Ponzi scheme, although anyone can participate here without investing a dime in it. There would've been no risk for him. My own Steem Power and that delegated to me make my like worth about 0.30 SBD at maximum power which equals about 3 USD. A regular conversation by email between us had on Steem would put tens of $$ in his pocket. This is like a virtual pub that not only doles out free drinks but also pays you a good salary for entertaining your friends and yourself. For anybody to decline this is beyond my ability to grasp.

@markkujantunen I can totally relate! These are the same people that have been calling BTC a bubble since 2014 when its price was a fraction of what it is today.

It's even more unbelievable that people decline this given the fact that they use facebook (at least most of them) regularly and spend long hours scrolling down a home page full of worthless selfies.

Anyway, long story! Thank you for your thoughtful input!

I stopped trying to convince people, I will just make the money myself

@viraldrome Thank you!!!! Best comment I've read all day! That's it, I'm with you!

Wow seems like through your attempt to share the world of crypto with others you are now able to see who your true friends are. I’ve been in crypto less than you.. about 3 months. As soon as I got on board I told everyone I knew about it. I know there is a huge learning curve with cryptocurrencies so I have repeatedly told people to get involved. For me people have only started taking notice after I sent them screenshots of my current portfolio value. Even then I had to stress to them that I spent less than $500 investing and have already made close to $4000. It is hard to see such a great return in a short time with anything else so that’s when they start to pay attention. Yet and still my experiences seem to fall on deaf ears. But that’s quite alright because when my cryptos start to really take off and they are looking for a handout or stuck with their jaws dropped in disbelief, I will have the grand honor of being able to say “I told you so!”. People are too skeptical and those that are close minded won’t get far. We can try and guide them as much as we can but we can’t lead a horse to water and force it to drink it.

@daqueend Thank you for taking the time to leave a beautiful, thoughtful and wise comment. I totally agree wtih everything you said. At least we will have the honor of being able to say ''I told you so'' as you said, or have the moral satisfaction of at least trying to help them.

Your post was so relatable it was a must that I left a comment. I know how it feels to be ignored when you are just trying to share wisdom and help others. Just know you aren’t alone

@daqueend I noticed you have Steem tokens and Steem Dollars (SBD) sitting in your account, and I also noticed that you're a new member so I suppose you don't know how to use them. My advice for you is this: go to your Steem and select ''Power Up'', then turn it all into Steem Power.

Steem Dollars (SBD) are worth approximately 10 USD right now, hit the ''market'' button next to your ''Steem Dollars''and you will be redirected to the internal market where you can sell them for Steem which you should then turn into Steem Power again.

You can also hit the ''sell'' option and you will be redirected to blocktrades, where you can trade your Steem Dollars (SBD) for BTC, ETH, BTS, LTC or Steem/ Steem Power.

Hope this comment helped.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Thank you for the advice. I was a little unsure of what to do with the Steem as far as powering up. I will folllow your advice. I greatly appreciate it!!

Your Steem Dollars is worth at least 60 bucks as well, you should use that too ;) It would double your account value if you traded it for Steem. Or you could sell that for cryptocurrency through blocktrades!

Super duper great advice! I just traded it for Steem and saw the value nearly double. Thank you soooo much for this valuable information.

I know the feeling. tried telling my friends the same thing 'Steemit is for free, at least give it a try!'' but none interested.

@vangie I feel you! Never mind though, we 'll just make the money ourselves ;)

Sooner than you've imagined the world will revolve solely around Cryptocurrencies. I think then most that are not involved now will have themselves to blame. You don't need to force anyone @lordneroo, time will tell.
