Life On Life Terms
I woke up reminiscing, about the good ol’ days, the many years of ignorance about the true nature of the world. When all I really had to worry about was school and watching TV, those were the days.
This train of thought lead me down a path; I began to think about the progression of my life and varying levels of frustration growing up. I realised something while pondering, life seems to get worse the older you get.
I’m not necessarily talking about personal life here, though mine has more or less gotten more frustrating, I’m talking about life for humans in general. Have you noticed how to older people things always seem to have been better in the past? Now even people of my generation are beginning to sound like old people, everything just always seems better in the past.
Yes I know of all the wars and all of that, but excluding periods that had such high levels of widespread violence, has there been any period in recent history where things seemed to get better for everyone in general and not worse?
Do we only have a steadily increase in general hardship to look forward to now? It’s just like growing up, as a kid (if you’re lucky) you are oblivious to the hardships and your parents got you covered. All you ever really do is play.
It gets harder for the teenage, this is where you try to figure out what’s up and what’s not, how to be cool and how to get accepted by your peers.
Next up you have the young adult, now as a young adult you get hit with more realities than you were prepared to handle. There are bills to be paid, money needs to be properly managed, you have to understand finance and stuff, you keep up with the news as much as you can and realise the rainbow at the end of the road keeps getting farther away.
Everyone is angry and everyone is frustrated. You also see people for what they are now, liars, cheaters, scammers and generally awful. You learn to adapt and in the process you sometimes become more like the people you started out despising.
It’s crazy.
I’m still in the young adult phase, and I can say for me personally looking back life has gradually gotten harder. And the human race as a whole isn’t helping with something new popping up on a daily; there are war agitations, increased unemployment, inflation, crazy stories showcasing inhumanity popping up everywhere, poverty and arguments about legally and socially acceptable lifestyles.
It is tiring.
I have decided to step out from the mess of it all, tune out the noise and focus on me. Bad news seems to be in abundant supply, and I am done with it. No more negativity, only positives are getting in.
I am going to live my life on life times, one day at a time. Encounter a problem? Then I face it until it’s resolved, everything one step at a time. I might not be able to change how shitty the world is, but I can control how much I let its shittiness get to me.

I know what you mean. Things always do seem to be better in the past. 'When I was a kid' I find myself saying these days to my students. (I'm only in my 30's by the way) But it's not all bad. Yes, there are plenty of terrible daily atrocities and the news is all bad on the tele and in the paper and on the internet. But the world isn't only made up of evil. That is only what 'they' want us to see. Bad news sells. But there are good people out there. Loving people, caring, sharing, helping, people. People with love in their hearts. People with patient minds. Live your life on your our terms! Don't feel into the negative pit. Stay happy, eat right and spread love. Even throughout the day I tell people I love them. Strangers don't know it, but as I pass them by, with my mind I tell them that I love them. Feels good. And believe it or not it does spread love! be well, be happy.
I never thought about it that way, keep love in your heart and it emanates. I will try to consistently keep my love alive inside so I can show as much of it as I can. Thanks for reading.
Life is definitely crazy and tiring at times, seems to come in waves for me, like you said, I try to take one day at a time, tomorrow will have enough worries of it own.
I guess that's what makes it life, the challenges and frustration are just a part of the deal.
This is what we all need to do sometimes my friend. Tune out the noise of the world and focus on yourself. It is not selfish but it is for the best. Because you really can't help anyone if you don't help yourself first. :)
The world is not shitty. Just minority of individuals making "shit". This world is a beautiful place. You just have to look in the right direction. :)
Great post, my friend. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. :)
I'll try to find the right places to look from now on, it all just seemed to get muddled up for a while. Thanks for reading.
Just go to nature my friend and you will find it right away. :)
This is what reality is, and it isn't going to get better or easier for anyone - at least that is what it looks like to me. Life is just that: plugging away, day after day, until you're so tired that you're happy to drop into the grave and leave it all behind. Love your thoughts!
Wow, well that's kinda depressing, but if that's the reality then we kinda got no choice but to leave with it. I understand why many people get so eager to get married and start a family now, they want a reliable source of love.

Yes, @lordmok. I'm so glad you're focusing on the positives. The older I've gotten, the more I appreciate and see the good. And, yes, it's one step at a time. Proud of you!
