Last week was a chaotic week for the bulk majority of Phantom users. Phantom is a Solana blockchain-based DEX wallet that connects Dapps. These attackers are waging an exploit campaign, specifically against wallets linked to the Magic Eden market place.

I'll advise everyone to cancel permission right away. To do so, just sign in to your Phantom wallet and take the next few steps:

• Enter your Phantom wallet's Settings section.

• Then select revoking permissions from the list of trusted apps.

All system assets, including SOL and SPL tokens, are at danger because this hack specifically targeted the Solana network. Additionally, numerous wallets were compromised. This is yet another sign that you should keep your wallet cold. Cold wallets are the only ones that hackers can access; hot DEX wallets are decentralized but still open to attack.

Theoretically, phantom wallets automatically interact with this address after account setup, so this may have been a special exploit from an existing address that these impacted wallets had already talked with.

It seems like only someone with the private keys could accomplish that in the past, which has caused a lot of problems for Solana, so many are asking questions and finding it hard to believe how the exploited transactions are happening right now. But a number of accounts were nearly all drained at the same time, indicating a large hack may have been the culprit.

As holders sell to protect the value of their holdings, SOL's value has plunged. It presently ranks ninth in terms of market capitalization, with a price of $41.38 (at the time of writing this article)

As a result of this attack, assets worth more than $5 million have been taken out of the system. A cold wallet is still the greatest option because it is an offline wallet that cannot be attacked by hackers, as I often emphasize.

If you have a lot of money to store, it is strongly advised that you get a cold wallet because it is much safer.
