Project Milkbox Playlist Challenge| Entry // COM #41

@elsiekjay made me do this. :D

Elsie has been working hard lately to get me off my butt to get some MILK tokens so she sent me this competition that @projectmilkbox is doing..
They are basically asking you to do a playlist of 5 songs with the theme of "New beginnings".
So I thought to myself:

Why not. Shouldnt be too hard..

So lets get into it...

1.DJ Snake, Lil Jon - Turn Down for What.

This is a very special song for me. If we are talking new beginnings this is the best song to go with first...
This song talks about a guy that is trapped in a rut, always having to conform to societal expectations of him, constrained by social norms and the way people around him judge him to be.
This is song is him saying: "No more! I will be free!"

Turn it down? I shan't do it that way.

And he does not... Every level of the "building" he falls through, he encounters individuals that are trapped as he was and his new found energy is so contagious that he makes them realize that they need a new start as well. He is their "liberator".
They will not "turn it down" anymore.

2. Britney Spears - I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman

One of my favorite songs of all time. I have a keen ability to get in touch with my feminine side so i can say, with the wholeness of my being, i see what Britney wanted to say here.
She was always seen as the girl next door with her sweet demeanor and Goldilocks hair. She understood it was time to step out of her shell (this seems to be a continuous theme in my song picks) and tell the world that she has grown. That she has matured. That all those childish things have been left behind her. She was coming into control of her own life..

So she shaved her head, started drinking and put on weight.
Still.... That has nothing to do with the song..

3. I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor (1978)

An all time classic. Not many people know that this song was the inspiration for Ridley Scott when he was writing "Alien". Unfortunately the thematic of this song could not be introduced until Alien 4.

In 2017 we saw a woman having a crush on a "fish guy" like in Guillermo del Toro movie "Shape of water" so this shouldnt shock us so much.
Not many are aware that this song is talking about love from space. A peculiar type of love.
In 2018 we are modern, we are full of understanding, but in 1978, this was Taboo.
Let alone having a song talking about surviving a broken heart and moving on from such a love..

The purity of strength and willpower in this song cannot be challenged.

Will she find love in space again? Will she date a vegan or an Eskimo next?

We cannot know. What we do know is that she is starting again!

4. Dubioza kolektiv "U.S.A."

I had to add a song from a band in my vicinity. Its a Bosnian band but they sing a few songs in English like this one.

If there is any song in this list that fits into the theme of this competition perfectly, this is it.
First the man wants to leave his country, begin a new life, leave his goats and his 1986 Volkswagen Golf behind. He will start a new life in San Fran and leave his old life behind.
But soon he will realize that "the grass is not greener in his neighbors courtyard."
He realizes that he misses his "rakija", misses seeing Izet Fazlinovic on TV and having "čevapi" for lunch and dinner.

This is a song about new beginnings but its also about realizing that sometimes we have it good just as it is.

5. Afternoon Delight

Just one song i like since i have no silly ideas left.
Wait a sec....

Might as well kill two sticks with one stone.
