L'addio ufficiale ad OUYA
Ouya Riposa in pace è stato bello finché è durato.
Per chi non lo sapesse OUYA è una miniconsole per videogiochi passata alle cronache qualche anno fa per essere stata protagonista di una delle campagne kickstarter più alte (quando andava di moda) registrate fino ad allora.
Le sue caratteristiche di forza sarebbero dovute essere le ridotte dimensioni, il prezzo ridotto (99$ che poi sono rimasti tali anche dopo anni dal lancio) e la possibilità di smanettamento unito ad un parco giochi aperto principalmente alla comunità di sviluppatori indipendenti.
Purtroppo OUYA disattese parte delle sue promesse iniziali presentando un sistema operativo chiuso, un parco giochi sì ampio ma con un una media dei giochi particolarmente bassa ed un joypad che nelle prime versioni della console non veniva riconosciuto e soffriva di lag input quando la Wi-Fi della console era attiva (quest'ultima peraltro non priva di pecche).
Insomma le grandi attese iniziali divennero ben presto grandi delusioni ma questo non impedì alla piccola console di conquistare il cuore dei nerd e dei retrogamer più incalliti (tra i quali il sottoscritto) soprattutto per la possibilità di installare dallo store i principali emulatori esistenti permettendo così di poter rispolverare o scoprire giochi storici di piattaforme tra le quali NES, Super Nintendo, Megadrive, Master System e Neo Geo.
Dopo qualche anno Ouya in rovinosa caduta venne acquisita da Razer che cercò di rilanciarla all'interno della propria console Razer Forge TV ma senza riuscirci.
Oggi con la seguente mail si pone fine a tutto.

I 100 euro buttati da mediaworld bruciano ancora...le premesse erano molto buone, l’idea di una console simil “open source” mi è piaciuta subito, peccato che il supporto non è stato dei migliori, fondamentalmente si va a competere con console già alla portata economica di tutti come xbox e ps, ed i giochi non erano esattamente tripla A, peccato davvero...
