Travelling to China #3
Out of practical reasons, it was best for us to take a taxi. So we rounded up one, and surprise surprise, we had to fill out a charter contract stating that we agree on certain risks and so forth, before driving ;)
As we got closer to city centrum, The cars/busses are naturally in A constant que. you gotta be patient with 1,7 billion people I guess ;) you get some time to see nice things though
We stay in Hutong Bejing, at A local appartment, Thats the «old town» part, close to the forbidden city. When we travel we like to stay and live in tune with the local people as much as possible, to a certain point of course. This is the entrance to the “hotel” :
We just had an address on Chinese (google translate is your friend) We had to walk through alleys, where nobody knows English, I think one old man was very angry when he saw a couple of tourist with kids, walking and seemingly completely lost. ;) we just ignored him obviously.... rounded some Moore corners..
And understanding nothing basicly...Google maps doesnt work in China by the way...
And in the END getting lost...
...
Makes you think how one travelled before ... using hand held maps and arms and gestures....
