✌️🍕 Viva La Vegan Revolution! ✌️🍨
Hey guys, I was recently lucky enough to return to one of my favourite parts of the world- the South of France. I spent some time in Cannes and was completely bowled over by how it has changed since the last time I was there.
Yes, it seems that in just a year the vegan revolution has reached France! It is a country that is renowned for it's love of meat and dairy, and in the past when visiting my choices were somewhat limited even as a vegetarian. But there was always cheese...
Returning now vegan, I was sure that I would be living on frites and baguette, but little did I know how the winds of change had begun to blow in this, the most devoutly foodie of countries.
Every supermarket I visited had an abundance of meat substitutes, plant milks, vegan ready meals, sandwiches, desserts- I was completely overwhelmed! There were designated fridges and wall displays specifically dedicated to veggie and vegan options, I couldn't believe my eyes!
And the produce is also a thing of beauty in France, so fresh 😊This place is becoming a vegan's dream!
It was so hard to chose between all the goodies on offer, but I made my selections and excitedly took my haul home.
I was really happy with the quality of the items I had, everything was really good. But what impressed me most was the orange dessert. Oh my, this was such a treat. So creamy and chocolatey- I had to go back to buy another the next day!
So the supermarkets are taking the hint and getting with the times, but what about the restaurants?
Back before I was vegan, I loved Pizza Cresci, a pretty pizzeria by the harbour in Cannes. They made the cheesiest, most delicious pizza I'd ever eaten and it seemed unlikely that they would have anything vegan to offer.
Well.. all you gotta do is ask people! It can be a little daunting to ask for vegan versions of things, especially in another country, but most of the time restaurants will really surprise you by being not only accommodating, but eager to make something nice for you!
They created a delicious cheese-less pizza for me which still had bunch of flavour due to their delicious combination of herbs and their amazing tomato sauce.
After dinner, while strolling through the town I had a look in the local gelato parlour's display and spotted some sorbet.
But wait, chocolate sorbet?? Are my eyes deceiving me?
I had to check, but there it was, even proudly wearing a 'vegan' sign.
Oh how delicious it was! What an absolutely perfect meal out, and what an unexpected treat to find it so easy to eat vegan in France 💜

Cannes is a beautiful place, boasting beautiful coastline views and a picturesque village feel, but now I feel like it has everything I could need as it is so easy to be vegan here now!

Great! It's so beautiful to watch the vegan community grow every single day. Nowadays it is so easy to be vegan, even on vacation, and I get surprised by that over and over again... :D Seems like you had a good time discovering all the delicious foods in France. :)

Ooh that vegan sorbet combo looks yum!! My hubby's family is from the South of France, so it's good to know there's vegan options now if we ever visit!
