Amazing Vegan Doner Kebab!🌯🍟

So I've been off sampling some more amazing, and indulgent vegan food- this time in one of my favourite areas of London, Camden!

I've been following this restaurant chain on Instagram for absolutely AGES, practically drooling over their photos and thought it was about time I tried it out. This business is going from strength to strength most likely through the mass promotion of it by the vocal vegan community on social media as well as considerable media attention.

They now have 3 restaurants in London- in Shoreditch, Camden and Croydon.

Unassuming as it's facade may be, this little eatery is not to be underestimated!

It is 100% vegan and as well as tasty food which you can purchase as a meal deal and they also sell a selection of vegan beers, soft drinks and desserts.

We of course, went for the meal deal, with the vegan doner as that is their signature dish - one of us getting the one with a vegan baklava, and one of us getting fries.

The waitress knew we were going to share the sides so she gave us extra fries- and she was extremely generous. I mean look at that!

She also asked if we would like any sauces- they had homemade ketchup, burger sauce, chilli sauce and mayonnaise (all vegan of course). I was a little cheeky and asked if we could try all four and she said 'of course!'

I was happy 'cos I love my condiments!

When the food arrived, apart from being amazed at how many fries she gave us, I was super excited to see the size of the doner! This may not be the cheapest vegan meal but the portions are really impressive and makes the price totally worth it.

The Doner

Well, just look at it! It really looks like the real deal doesn't it? And the flavour was out of this world! The 'meat' was a really authentic texture and nice and succulent. To top it all of the combination of the tangy spicy sauce and a cool cucumber one really set off the flavour perfectly. Incredible!

The fries had a great paprika seasoning and were cooked perfectly, and the sauces were the ideal accompaniment- I was especially impressed with the burger sauce as I haven't ever seen any vegan varieties before.

The Baklava

After all that, I was about ready to burst! But I of course had to try the amazing looking baklava.

What a perfect sweet treat to end the meal- it was deliciously syrupy, with an amazing cinnamon flavour. Divine!

To accompany this bountiful feast I chose an Elderflower Kambucha which was really refreshing and light. Just the thing to enjoy alongside this vegan feast.

I really can't recommend What The Pitta enough, if you need more convincing check out their Instagram! It's so great to see that this chain is gaining coverage even in mainstream media and to be honest, I think if you fed one of these doners to an unsuspecting meat eater, even the most militant carnivore would have a hard time telling you it wasn't as good as the real thing!

But not only is the food great, the service was super friendly and genuine. It's always such a treat to go and eat somewhere where you feel that the staff are really passionate about the food they serve, and I really got that feeling here.
