The cookie 🥞
The cookie
I'm going to talk to you today about my famous Christmas cookies that my kids and my friends love.
Before sharing my delicious recipe with you, I'll tell you a little about the cookie's story.
He comes from the United States, his name "koekje", cupcake, was brought by the Dutch settlers. It was accidentally manufactured in the 1930s by Mrs. Wakefield. This lady was holding an inn in Massachusetts. This hostel had a very good reputation because you could eat many dishes or homemade desserts. There are several versions of the origin of the cookie, here are two:
During a preparation of chocolate cupcakes, Mrs. Wakefield was missing pastry chocolate. She decided to replace it with small pieces of Nestlé brand chocolate, thinking they would melt and mix with the dough. But it did not go as planned and that's how the cookie was born, the pieces of chocolate were not melted and remained scattered in the dough. Mrs. Wakefield then sold her recipe to Nestle in exchange for a supply of chocolate for life.
A second version reports that the vibrations caused by the electric mixer used by Mrs. Wakefield to mix the dough to make cupcakes dropped chocolate bars that were on a shelf just above the preparation. By falling into the preparation, the mixer broke the bars of chocolate and made small pieces that were immediately mixed with the dough. Mrs. Wakefield wanted to discard the dough at first but she was convinced to keep it so as not to waste. The preparation was cooked as planned and that's how the cookie was born.
Cookie day
Monday 4th December 2017 was the cookie day.
When it’s cookie day, family or friends, bake cookies together. They have funny time togheter, they try new recipes. The children try also to make their first cookies with their mum 👩👦👦
I think it’s a good idea to have happy time with his entourage and we can learn new recipes too or share our way of making a particular recipe, our techniques and our utensils.
My recipe
Ingredients for about 20 cookies, it depends on the size they are given.
1 egg
120g butter
180 g flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
150g dark chocolate
2 tablespoons cocoa powder (Nesquick)
150g brown sugar (brown sugar)
Preparation
Mix the soft butter, brown sugar and egg (the mixture should be light and creamy)
Add the flour, yeast and cocoa until a smooth paste is obtained
Add the chopped chocolate (bigger or smaller) pieces according to your greed)
Form a pudding with the dough and wrap it in cellophane
Put the pudding for at least 1 hour in the fridge so that it hardens
Preheat the oven to 180 ° C
Cut slices approximately 1 cm thick and place them on a plate covered with baking paper
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes depending on the size of the biscuits
Attention of leave enough space between the cookies because they will spread out while cooking and if they stick to each other they will be less presentable.
- Let cool on a baking rack and then enjoy 10) If they are left, keep them in a metal cookie box (not in a plastic box) otherwise they will be much less crisp or soft.
I hope you enjoyed my recipe, it is quite easy to make and every time I make my Christmas cookies (which I actually do all year round) it's guaranteed success !
