When I was e-petite I would like Mc Gyver, for me, it was the top adventurers !! I found his equivalent in the person of Bear Grylls.
With my husbands and children, as soon as we see him on TV we stop everything we do and we are as captivated by this incredible man. He could have died a hundred times already! He lived and ate everything that was not possible for ordinary people. He can survive anywhere under any conditions, he is brave and exceptional !
Bear Grylls, real name Edward Michael Grylls was born in June 1974 in Bembridge on the Isle of Wight in Great Britain.
He is a mountaineer, adventurer and British writer.
He is a former Special Forces (SAS) soldier and is known for his show Man vs. Wild, broadcast in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, France and Belgium.
He is the youngest Briton to climb Everest at the age of 23. In July 2009, he was promoted to the youngest leader of the British Scout Association at the age of 35.
Bear Grylls lived in Ireland until the age of four. He graduated from Hispanic Studies in 2002. He speaks English, French and Spanish.
Army
He served as a soldier with the British Special Air Service for 3 years, from 1994 to 1997. During maneuvers in southern Africa, he suffered a serious freefall parachute accident. He breaks his back in three places and it ends his military career.
After months of rehabilitation, with the goal of achieving his childhood dream, climb Everest, he is operational again.
Mountaineering
In 1997, Bear Grylls became the youngest Briton to climb Ama Dablam in the Himalayas. And on May 26, 1998, at the age of 23, he entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the youngest British climber to climb Everest after 20 days of climbing in extreme weather conditions and a fall to 5,800 meters altitude that almost killed him.
Television
His show entitled Man vs. Wild shows how to survive in a hostile environment and find civilization.
It is usually parachuted into the most inhospitable places on the planet like deserts, swamps, mountains, ... and shows viewers the best way to survive by having only a knife, a gourd, a firearm and sometimes a parachute. He must find food and water and then prepare a shelter, the goal being to find a village or any other form of civilization to leave this place.
The show started in 2006. He has been accompanied twice by personalities, in Sweden with Will Ferrell and in Iceland with Jake Gyllenhaal.
On the program's menu there is rock climbing, strange meals and chilly, even cold nights. He has a remarkable knowledge of the field.
It also tells stories of other adventurers stranded or killed on these hostile lands: Iceland, Panama, Australia, French Alps, Alaska, Costa Rica, Mexico, ...
In 2010, Bear Grylls is working on a new series that puts his survival skills to the test in the face of natural disasters, aggression, accidents, urban violence and other hostile situations.
In 2011, he launched a new series called Bear's Wild Weekends, in which he takes personalities in survival adventures.
On March 14, 2012, Bear Grylls was fired by Discovery Channel after it refused to participate in two upcoming projects.
On July 8, he launches a new show, Living Out with Bear Grylls. They are ten teams of two, fighting for survival in the wild in New Zealand while performing different tasks and missions. One team per week is eliminated.
On November 28, 2013, Discovery Channel France broadcast the first episode of a new series called Bear Grylls: a trip to hell. Just like In Nature, Bear Grylls shows various techniques of survival in a hostile environment, in situations that tell stories of people having to face extreme conditions following an accident (plane crash by example). Bear shows how to survive relying on archival documents and testimonials.
Since 2014, NBC has been broadcasting the program Running Wild with Bear Grylls. The program is based on the same survivalist concept that Grylls has been able to do in his career, such as Man vs Wild. New here, a celebrity joins him for the trip.
Since 2016, he has been performing on Channel 4 Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls.
Private life
Bear Grylls has been married since 2000 to Shara Grylls and they have three sons. I imagine how his children should be proud of him when they follow his adventures on television. I also imagine how his wife should be worried when she sees him risking his life to cross a river or climb a cliff ...
Books
His first book, Facing Up, has been named one of the UK's top 10 bestsellers, and was launched in the US as The Kid Who climbed Everest. The book recounts his expedition to the summit of Everest at 23 years old.
His second book Facing the frozen Ocean was selected for the 2004 William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award, where he describes how, with a team of five men, he made the first unattended Arctic Ocean crossing in a boat. pneumatic.
A book has also been written to accompany the series, Born Survivor: Bear Grylls, explaining the different survival skills learned from some of the most hostile countries.
This book has reached the top 10 best sellers of the Sunday Times.
His latest book is a guide to extreme outdoor activities, called Great Bear Grylls Outdoor Adventures.
If you do not know yet Bear Grylls, I advise you to watch without delay his broadcasts (especially Man vs Wild), they are great, we learn a lot of things, we are caught in the suspense and in addition we see landscapes and beautiful animals.

Bear Grylls is the ultimate man that makes think we can push our boundaries to even do half a percent of what he can do in a challenge would be considered a success .Perhaps if we all look at what he has achieved perhaps we would push our person boundaries even further then perhaps achieving more goals in life .
When I was young I liked his program very much, in my country it was called "Proof of everything" and it was amazing to see him expose himself to any critical situation in any kind of environment, whether cold, desert or rainy and leave thanks to his training and knowledge.
