Filling Up The Garden (Part 1)

My mother came down to see us for the weekend, so we took advantage of her green fingers (and her car to get us to the garden centre!) to help add some colour and variety to our little walled garden space.

Not a spectacular start, but this end of the border will have the purple foliage of Heuchera which will also grow little "coral bell" flowers.

Next is the splendidly ornamental Fuchsia. This is now one of the things that immediately draws your eye when you emerge from the kitchen door. So pretty.

We didn't plant this one, it was already here. A Chinese Virginia Creeper (parthenocissus henryana is our best guess) which is already all over the wall.

They should grow a bit taller and bushier.

It's made a huge difference to how the place feels already.
