Holding on tight
I always look forward to the winter solstice as it marks the time when the days get a little bit lighter and spring is on the way.
Well, yesterday the winter solstice arrived with a bang!!
We had the mother of all storms last night with gale force winds that were really scary.
I tried to block out the sound of the wind and rain by watching a couple of movies - it helped a bit, but as my place is high up and the roof is tin, the sound still came through - and not to mention that there are leaks in the roof, so out with the buckets and the strong wind actually shook the room.
So when I say that I do not like winter, you will understand why.
My veggie containers took a beating too - the small Moringa tree that I planted some weeks ago looks really beaten up this morning and I do not know if it will recover.
However, my peas managed to hold on tight - this really amazes me as those little tendrils look so delicate, but despite everything, they survived and are not looking damaged at all - it just shows you - appearances can be deceiving.
I heard about the storm back in SA hope your all good. It's been windy in Mauritius too but nowhere near as bad as by you it seems. Good luck!! As you say... Winter solstice means it's now counting down to summer again. 🌞😁

It's just amazing, those pea plants with their tendrils holding on for dear life, and was able to come out of the storm practically unscathed, while a tree took a beating. I'll bet the pea plant tendrils have some incredible, massive strength to give the plant its sturdy anchors!
