1 Corinthians Ch. 10

1 Corinthians 10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
1 Corinthians 10:2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
1 Corinthians 10:3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;

And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another,It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat. Exodus 16:15`

And gavest them bread from heaven for their hunger, and broughtest forth water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and promisedst them that they should go in to possess the land which thou hadst sworn to give them.Nehemiah 9:15

And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. 1 Corinthians 10:4

"That rock was Christ."

But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. 1 Corinthians 10: 5-10

Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. 1 Corinthians 10:11

Paul gives all of these examples of the wilderness account during the time of Moses, and then he tells us that "all of these things were written for examples for us, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things" as they did.

(Lust, is also translated as "desire," in other translations.) 1 Cor vs. 6.

Paul used the word, "example," (vs6) and then when he closed out the examples he listed, he said that they were for, "ensamples." (vs11)

Strong's definition from the verses:

Both have the same meaning.
from 5180; a die (as struck), i.e. (by implication) a stamp or scar; by analogy, a shape, i.e. a statue, (figuratively) style or resemblance; specially, a sampler ("type"), i.e. a model (for imitation) or instance (for warning):--en-(ex-)ample, fashion, figure, form, manner, pattern, print. G5180

The passages above are just a few patterns and examples, as Paul said, contained in the scriptures.

The Apostle Paul wrote this in his epistles to Timothy:

1 Timothy 1:16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

He wrote this in the book of Titus:

Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.
In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: indoctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, Titus 2:6-7

The book of Hebrews says this:

For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:
Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.
But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: Hebrews 8:4-10

The bible is filled with patterns and examples for our for our admonition. Every part of God's word is valid and needed.

1 Corithians 10:11 the word, "admonition," means:

Orig: from 3563 and a derivative of 5087; calling attention to, i.e. (by implication) mild rebuke or warning:--admonition. G3563

The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. Isaiah 40:8

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Matthew 24:35
